Bunny Mama and her hubby were downtown in Chicago protesting at 2 Bloomingdales stores for selling items made with rabbit fur. We had a good turn out and raised awareness about this very upsetting topic. Please let Bloomingdale’s know how you feel. See pic below from 900 N. Michigan Ave location. Wearing rabbit fur was never cool and its still not. Let Bloomingdale’s know today!
In case you have not heard, the upscale, trendy and expensive Bloomingdales is now selling 43 items made of RABBIT FUR! Yes read it correctly rabbit fur. This is so offensive to millions of homes that have pet rabbits, I can’t even tell you. Are they selling items made with cat or dog fur – NO. Would they – NO. Then why rabbit fur. Its not the 1980’s and it wasn’t cool back then either.
Take a minute and sign the petition that has really taken off. See the link below.

It seems we have a new target, Central Seaway (Censea) a company that distributes seafood to restaurants and grocery chains is now selling rabbit meat. Not acceptable. Read more how you can help by going to this page and spending 2 minutes to help.
SUCCESS AS CENTRAL GROCERS HAS STOPPED DISTRUBITING RABBIT MEAT TO THEIR 400+ STORES THEY SUPPLY. THANKS CENTRAL GROCERS – BUNNY PARENTS COULD NOT BE HAPPIER……………This week (2/7/16), I will spend some time emailing the board members of Central Grocers / Centrella Grocers in the Chicago area and ask them to stop carrying rabbit meat. As the fight goes on, I will let you know how you can help with this very important cause. More to come email campaigns and protests. Stay tuned…….
The day after I emailed about 10 or so store chains about the sale of rabbit meat, this news came in…..
2/8/16 – A HUGE VICTORY FOR BUNNIES AND BUNNY PARENTS
IN THE CHICAGO AREA AS CENTRAL GROCERS / CENTRELLA, A HUGE FOOD DISTRIBUTOR HAS HEARD OUR PLEAS AND HAS STOPPED CARRYING RABBIT MEAT AS OF RIGHT NOW!!!! So they will NO LONGER distribute rabbit meat to their hundreds of customer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan! I am estimating somewhere between 400 and 600 stores will no loner have the option to purchase rabbit meat because of this wonderful decision by Central Grocers / Centrella.
THIS IS AWESOME NEWS AS WE WERE JUST RAMPING UP OUR EFFORTS TO PROTEST AND THIS IS SUCH GREAT NEWS I WANTED TO SHARE.

Treasure Island – Chicago based – 7 stores
Valli Produce – Northern IL – 6 stores

This is something to be thankful for.
The protest for Tony’s Finer Foods (Chicago area) for Sun Oct 25th has been cancelled. They will sell through on stock and then will not reorder. By the end of year or sooner they will no longer be carrying rabbit meat. YIPEEEEE…..
As of September 23, 2015….
So after being contacted by Rabbit Advocacy Network, Mariano’s an upscale grocery chain with 33 stores in the Chicago market emailed all stores telling them to pull rabbit meat from all stores immediately. I personally check my local store the following week and although I did not find any rabbit meat, the tags still remained on the shelf and the meat person I spoke with removed them while I was there. The rabbit meat was in the Wild Game section of the frozen meat area. If you happen to see any rabbit meat in your local store, please email me and I will follow up with them directly.
The bunnies are winning, store by store, chain by chain but we still have much work to be done. Stay tuned for how you can help.
