Here are some random little known facts about bunnies....
Bunnies are so sensitive to smells that if you wash your hands with scented soap and your bun hops away and gives you a strange look - you'll know why.
Be careful with using hand creams and then petting your bun, the cream may come off of your hands and get on your bun's fur and then make them sick when they are grooming them self.
Buns have sensitive eyes to bright light. Try not to turn on a bright light when you bun is in a dark room. They will thank you for it.
Rabbits have a very keen hearing sense...they will get to know your foot steps but I always start to talk to my buns as soon as I'm around so they don't get scared and they know it's me.
It's gross but true, buns eat their own poop. See my Poop 101 page for more gross but true details.
Some buns won't drink much water and that is okay since they must be getting enough water from the fresh veggies they are eating. But the bun still needs a water source for drinking please.
Don't feed your rabbit raw carrots on a regular basis--- they are too sweet and hard to digest. I give my buns a tiny pc of carrot once in a great while as super duper treat. Tiny is defined as a quarter inch long and not very wide of a carrot pc. Give them unpeeled, washed carrot piece. They may also like carrot top greens - wash first and give sparingly as rabbits do have a sensitive digestive system.
Allergies - if you are allergic to a cat or dog, you may or may not be allergic to a bunny or it's hay. Hay can be the biggest problem since rabbits main diet should consist of alot of hay. If you have allergies already, then I suggest you see an Allergist to determine if you are allergic to the rabbit and/or it's hay. Surprisingly I am allergic to cats, dogs, trees and grass but not to my buns or their hay. I DO NOT keep the buns in my bedroom where I sleep nor do I allow any hay in my bedroom. This is key to keep you bedroom free from the buns and their hay as much as possible.
I have dwarf rabbits which can be more aggressive (especially the females) and high strung then other rabbit breeds.
Lion Head breed can be more aggressive then other too, my Gracie can be a handful at times but she is mostly a good girl.
If your bun doesn't want to be bothered by you on the ground try getting a small stool from a resale shop and train your bun to come up and snuggle with you. See Baby below. I'm laying on the couch and the stool is right up against the couch. Caution - they might just use this a step up to being on the sofa with you. That would be perfect!
